CleanBC Better Homes HVAC Duel Fuel Program Change

We are happy to share a program updates for dual fuel heat pump installations – when a central heat pump is installed or integrated with a natural gas or propane furnace – in the CleanBC Better Homes program. These updates are in response to feedback received through industry outreach with HVAC stakeholders.

On April 1, 2020, the following requirements for dual fuel heat pump installations are as follows:

* Dual fuel systems will not require a variable speed compressor, allowing for more heat pump models to be integrated with existing furnace systems.

 

CleanBC Better Homes Fenestration Program Change

On April 1, 2020, Tier 1 doors (with a U-factor between 1.23 and 1.40 W/m2-K) will no longer be eligible for rebates in the program. Tier 2 doors (with a U-factor of 1.22 W/m2-K or lower) will still be eligible for rebates. Eligible doors must be listed on Natural Resource Canada’s Energy Star fenestration product list. Tier 1 and Tier 2 window rebates are not changing.

 

CleanBC Better Homes EnerGuide Home Evaluation Program Change

On April 1, 2020, the $300 EnerGuide Home Evaluation rebate will be split into two incentives – $200 for a pre-upgrade EnerGuide home evaluation (D evaluation) and $100 for a post-upgrade EnerGuide home evaluation (E evaluation).

Municipal top-up incentives will apply to the pre-upgrade EnerGuide home evaluation (D evaluation).

Requirements for EnerGuide Home Evaluation rebates will be as follows for invoices dated on or after April 1, 2020:
